Bedroom progress...

I was on the hunt for bedroom nightstands and I've found them!

Hallelujah!

I trolled Craigslist and about 2 weeks ago I came across someone selling these beauties for a super fair price. I cleaned em' up and replaced the hardware now they look good as new. I'm not certain what company makes them but I can tell you they're of really great quality...theres even a power surge built right in to the back *high five*

I think they add a wonderful elegance to the room.

Still looking for the 'just right' lamps ( I'm ridiculously picky about lamps and pillows )

 Onto the window treatments...

As you can see my bedroom windows are in need! The plan is simple white curtains, a bamboo shade and gold curtain rings.

A white Ikea rod will look fresh against the gold rings.

The curtain rings are from Target and have been discontinued :(
I like the size of the rings (they're a bit larger)

I post little sneak peeks on my Instagram, feel free to follow.

Bathroom Plans continued...

Summer seems to just be zooming by and I haven't got around to painting the bathroom. I picked up a few Coral-esque paint chips at my local Home Depot and narrowed them down to two. Home Decorators 'Desert Coral' and Behrs 'Coral Expression'. I'm leaning towards 'Coral Expression' as it has a nice rosey overtone to it ; although 'Desert Coral' has great Depth. The plan is lots of white touches to 'pop' against the Coral and gold metallic to add a bit of glam.

I also found a peachy/pink Blonde Redhead poster on Ebay that will coincide prettily with the painted walls (and they happen to be one of my favorite bands)

What do you think? 'Desert Coral' or 'Coral Expression' ???

Stay tuned for the before/after!

Happy Weekend :)

Around the house

I'm slowly getting things pulled together around the house. I recently scored the Odyssey table from Cb2 on Craigslist for a smashing deal. Taking down the vertical blinds in the living room felt like a major triumph, a lovely bamboo shade is now hung in their place. Curtains will be up soon as well!

I also replaced the forlorn Ikea slipcover for a fresh light grey one, it brightens up the whole space and it's super comfy.

There are plans for the bedroom (on the hunt for nightstands) kitchen and bathroom. I want it all done now but thats crazy and totally unrealistic (one thing at a time).

Stay up to date on the apartment progress through my Instagram .

Summer Stylin'

Summer is officially here!

Bright colors, warm weather, sandals and striped umbrellas!

I've compiled a little Summer-esque mood board.

Why not smell like a mermaid or wear gold bikenstocks this Summer? oh, and try the wonderful fruit ice cube idea here.

Ikea Finds + Being Busy

What is it about life and being busy? Finding balance isn't always easy. I really give it up to the mamas and papas out there who juggle a family on top of life stuff. This week I've been meditating on getting my physical health in balance as I tend to neglect that aspect of myself, all in time.

Moving on...

Over the weekend I stopped into my local Ikea and stumbled upon a small fiddle leaf fig plant. I was ecstactic because it was only $12.99! the large ones usually go for about a hundred bucks.

Here's a pic of the plant in my living room, Oh how I love it!

Ikea and I have a love/hate relationship...I've had a few pieces from the store that have fallen apart quickly and a few that have lasted but grew tired of. This past weekend rekindeled my initial fondness for Ikea.

I also found an adorable white and gold clamplight I plan to use in my bathroom makeover

It's gold and white!

Here's a pic of the light assembled:

Happy Monday!

Mini Mag Launch!

It's my pleasure to introduce Volume 1 of the Penny Jark online 'mini mag series'.

Featured in Volume 1 is Ay, Que Vintage a vintage shop located right in my neighborhood.

I met Lizette Suarez a few years back and we became fast friends. She along with her sister Mayra Suarez own and run this adorable little shop in Long Beach CA.

Ay, Que Vintage is full of wonderfully unique vintage and modern gems. You can easily stay here for sometime looking at every piece of clothing and accessory. The shops decor is a fun mix of styles that sum up Lizette's aesthetic which according to her is"shabby chic meets victorian meets psychedelic".

Mint walls and gold accents are a mainstay in the shop as well as a custom built mini stage for guest DJ's on the weekends.

Click through the 'mini mag' to read an interview and view photos from Ay, Que Vintage!

Enjoy <3
